feel a bit light-headed now.. this avro had a headache after lunch at Esther's flat.. must have been the effects of fatigue after a big 3-hour-plus bike ride, followed not long after by fireworks and waking up at 5 am to watch the ABs v Wales and church.. i still have a headache right now but the codeine-which-eventually-becomes-morphine is really making me a bit high..
oh well, at least don't have to study.. and yes maybe that could have had an effect, i mean a weekend without study for the first time in almost four weeks..
in many ways, i'm glad i've finished studying for 2005.. it's been p tiring but challenging, but i guess over 8 months of trying to remember all that really technical stuff and it's good when u don't have to worry abt that for a while.. but the change from study to holiday does take some getting used to.. suddenly u're having to find things to do.. fortunately, i have been occupied in the days after my last exam on Tuesday.. i had that painting job, restack wood, and had my last violin classes for the year so yeah it was actually p busy last week..
this week? well it is my last week in Dunners for a while.. i'm off to Cromwell with the Cutting Edgers but not staying with them coz got in a bit too late.. should be a different challenge pruning vineyards but also finding my own accomodation there.. but anyway this week, well the painting job at my mum's church is still not quite finished and i'm willing to help.. but not tomorrow coz it may p nice tomorrow - 21'C i hear and quite nice, so may hit the surf and do a bit of cycling..
anyway, fireworks on Guy Fawkes Saturday was awesome.. with all the trouble we've had with fireworks and bushfires this year, it could be the last.. u never know.. but anyway, it was a p cold and windy November night - kinda like London at this time of the year when Guy Fawkes tried to blow it up centuries ago - so we couldn't have fireworks on the beach like last year.. went to the park near the Browns'-and-now-Griffiths' and lit up $100 worth of fireworks.. only disappointment was that there were no sparklers - and that the lighter i brought was quite useless having been used up last winter...otherwise it was an awesome display..
it would be a shame if they had to ban the sale of fireworks just because some idiots dint know how to use them.. but perhaps we are all idiots in some way.. one of those missile-boxes we lit early in the night actually toppled and headed towards the group of Cutting Edgers!!! man that was scary.. it's good that there was hedge around us, so that it wouldn't hit one of the cars on the main road, outside the park.. fortunately no one was hurt, thank God, although Lizzie was a bit white after she "dodged" one of the missiles.. anyway she came back from that and lit her first fireworks.. however, i still did most of the lighting of the fireworks with Mike Lucas, Chris, Lawrence, Kat and Dave Pom, while the others were content to watch.. really enjoyed it.. quality fireworks in that $100 Reload box.. and we were also fortunate enough that we finished our fireworks just when we ran out of matches.. or that one of Jess' friends she brought had a lighter..
so that was one hour of good fun.. a good way to burn money but hey you need to excite ur life at times.. shame it's only once a year.. or twice if u save up on fireworks..
was it worth waking up at 5 am? yeah i guess it was.. i thought the game was a bit disappointing.. compared with last year's thriller of coz, but still an AB win is always good and considering how well they played, can't complain.. shame that the next game in Dublin next Sunday is at 4 am.. nah that's a bit too early for me.. and with the likelihood of having to drive to Cromwell that afternoon..
