what a long day

i woke up at 6.45 to watch the Champions League final on ESPN.. p good game.. ref was crap.. Barcelona beat the Gunners (Arsenal) 2-1..

it's 2 minutes to 12 and it has been a p eventful day.. had first class at 10 and then afternoon lab that finished almost at 5.. then had Pete's Cafe which was really good.. good turnout surprisingly considering "someone" had forgotten to announce that Pete's Cafe was today at church.. the fact that i talked to this gal from Apo tonight showed that well there were life group leaders out there who did remember and read their 10 minute reads.. and well that there are also young, keen Christian students still around in Dunners.. v reassuring..

we got to watch this video abt Jim Elliot and their "ill-fated" foray into the deep Amazon forests.. i say ill-fated coz well they were killed by the "savage" Aucas as they were called then.. but when ya look back and remember that God works miracles in strange ways, even if it takes a tragedy, i think something flicked in the Aucas that they had enough of their savage ways and that was kinda triggered by the widows of Elliot's brave men who went into the deep jungles to confront the same people who killed them..

remarkable story.. the Aucas, who are now known as Huaoranis after their conversion to Christianity, still live deep in the jungles, but they've just been transformed.. no longer spearing any foreigner at first sight.. and the remarkable effect of forgiveness was evident in the men who killed Jim Elliot and his friends that even one of them would be used by God to turn a tragic situation for Steve Saint (Nate Saint's son) into something glorious..

just shows how God uses tragedy to change people.. of course i don't hope for tragedy but it's just evidence that God builds what the devil attempts to destroy..

anyway yeah had a p long chat with this gal from St. Mags who went to Apo.. she was doing first year Health Sci like a lot of other ppl, and was trying to get into Med.. but yeah unexpectedly, talked quite a bit about missions and other countries.. talked abt the situation in Malaysia with the Malays and about the video.. it was p good..

anyway should go to bed.
