I've never seen such a rich, opulent and beautiful place - well for such an extravagant place, beauty is always of utmost importance! The great weather also helped as did the transport links which were brilliant, quick, cheap and also took u past many beautiful spots along the sea.

I might have said before that I thought in France I had found the perfect country. Monaco and Monte Carlo probably take it another step albeit at a price - well actually not too much though, i.e. food and books are nearly the same price as the rest of France unless u go to a fancy restaurant of course.. there is just no sign of poverty in Monaco, everyone is p much taken care of - obviously when ur car number plates consist only of 4 numbers, it's prob quite easy to be well looked after.. Anyway, saw the Prince's Palace - v opulent indeed - and walked the Monaco Grand Prix track - part of it is mostly carnival area since the race does only take place once a year in May. Also got to witness the 11.55am changing of the guard in front of the palace along with hundreds of other tourists..

Saturday was fantastic coz of the weather. Nice beaches were great for swimming - the water was fairly calm, well certainly calmer than Friday which was a day after the coast got its first rain in nearly 6 months. Then sipped wine watching the sun go behind the skyscrapers of Nice. And to cap off my last night in France on this tour, had a meal at this p affordable restaurant in Vieux Nice and ended up meeting these really nice French guys and girls - they were p hot i have to say even though they had boyfriends back in Strasbourg - who were around my age. It started when the guy, Ludovic saw my Lonely Planet book.. then we started talking in a mix of French and English abt New Zealand and travels. Later went to this bar and heard this band play English rock songs..what a night..

Anyway off to Genoa today albeit slowly. Will take the train to Menton, Ventimigula and slowly head to my place for the night in Genoa!
