I think nearly 2 months of travel is starting to take its toll.. not so much fatigue factor but more the responsibility of having to make sure u have all ur belongings.. there's ur passport, money - of which my envelope is slowly getting thinner and will need to try and spend more on my credit card and try and avoid using cash - camera, Ipod, mobile phone and Eurail pass.. those are the must-defend-at-all-costs items.. then there's little peripherals which u need but it's not quite the end of the world if u lose them , i.e. shampoo.. maybe ur camera's USB cable..That's why i've not posted any photos yet.. both are probably in a hostel in Hungary.. not the end of the world as just means for the shampoo u can go to the Tesco around the corner and the cable well if i'm desperate for love and to share photos go find a camera shop in Prague tomorrow.. just do it before Sunday when all the shops are closed..
And this is why u count from 1 to 10 and calm down.. although the odd arrghh and what the *expletive* is a bit natural considering the frustration that u are rather forgetful and clumsy and how can u forget those two things or leave those behind or where could it be.. and then u drop ur Slovak coins on the hostel stairs.. isn't life wonderful..
Anyway what abt Bratislava.. well firstly the weather which got worse in Budapest after Vienna continued the trend here.. and the wind showed up.. but amazingly after the most rain i've seen since probably Milan, the weather cleared and thus allowed a nice evening sky over the beautiful and petite, if a bit sterile, capital city of the Slovak republic.. walked around the historic town, walked up to the fairly disappointing castle - even the Buda Palace's interior was a bit of a letdown after the splendour of Vienna's Schonnbrunn and Hofsburg, although Buda's exterior is fit for any current royalty. must be a post-Soviet thing, and hopefully the Prague Castle is much better both inside and outside - saw the crazy UFO Bridge, found out that Slovaks have a wicked sense of humour , the underground watchman is quite clever and rather discreetly placed as it should be..
A one day city really but a rather nice one in fact.. it rather lets u see what a stereotype landlocked European country looks like.. but tomorrow for the main course, Prague.. and hopefully will try and find a USB cable if its affordable and post pictures on my facebook and flickr and of coz this blog..
