well that's what ya get when u stay up till 1 am watching the NRL Grand Final - watched by 26 million viewers i hear - and seeing the Wests Tigers beat the North Queensland Cowboys 30-16.. victory-lap-of-honour, medal presentation, and all.. dint really have a good sleep either.. too excited and suffering a bit of stomach bug.. not helped by two Speights..
good thing being tired.. good sleep at least.. with Panadeine..
anyway the Wests Tigers win adds to what has been the most successful year sports wise for me:
1. February - Chelsea win English League Cup
2. April - Chelsea win the English Premiership
3. May - English club wins European Cup - Liverpool
4. July - All Blacks beat Lions 3-0
5. August
- All Blacks beat Boks at the Brook in a thriller
- England win at Edgsbaston and Trent Bridge as they capture the country's and the cricketing world's imagination, defying the odds to take a 2-1 lead against "mighty" Australia
6. September
- All Blacks regain the Tri Nations at Eden Park with win over Australia
- England regain the Ashes at the Oval after nearly 20 years
- Sydney Swans win Aussie Rules Grand Final
7. October
- Wests Tigers win NRL Premiership
more to come, but the big ones, Ashes, Lions have gone by v well.. this year, started supporting Tigers and Swans - i'm not a glory hunter!! v good timing on my behalf, plus always had a liking for Wests.. who knows? Otago could win the NPC, All Blacks still got Grand Slam tour, New Zealand host Australia in the cricket in December.. but it's p clear already 2005 will be remembered as a golden year for sport..
